Suburban counties are prized for their 'small town feel'
Residents like where they live and worry about encroaching development, survey shows. Residents of Washington and Dakota counties continue to put high value on their quality of life, largely feeling safe from negative influences such as violent crime, a recent survey shows. A majority of survey respondents from those counties said they chose to live in Washington or Dakota counties because of a "small town feel," their rural locations and amenities such as parks, lakes and trails. They also ranked growth and development as their leading concern, followed by taxes and traffic congestion. No word on how many survey respondents were born in these counties.
