Roseville / 12 vying for open council seat

A call for applicants to fill a vacant Roseville City Council seat garnered a surprising turnout. ... The council is looking for someone familiar with city issues, who has volunteering or public service experience and who will bring "a different perspective to the council," Mayor Craig Klausing said Thursday. The number of applicants was higher than expected but a welcome surprise, Klausing said. "I see one of my duties as mayor as recruiting others to get involved," he said. "There's only one spot, and obviously we have 12 applicants, but I hope that shows a certain level of interest." If Monday's 10-minute sessions aren't adequate time with each candidate, the council will consider a second round of interviews, Klausing said.
