Momentum for buses and trains
It has been a historic week for transit in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The state's five most populous counties have agreed to raise the sales tax to fund transit projects. Hennepin, Dakota and Washington counties decided Tuesday to impose the one-fourth of 1 percent increase, plus a $20 excise tax on retail vehicle sales. They joined Ramsey and Anoka counties, which made the same decision last week.
