Teachers union: Minnesota schools need more money

A sampling of 46 school districts across Minnesota are facing about $113 million in staffing and program reductions next school year. That's according to estimates released today by Education Minnesota, the statewide teachers union. President Tom Dooher said even though the state is facing a nearly $1 billion deficit, state lawmakers need to give schools an inflationary increase. He said the education funding system is no longer equitable and school quality is becoming more linked to its ZIP code.
