How about 'the train'?

PR group copyrights possible name for Central Corridor light rail

Inter-City Inter-Community Land Express. Call it the ICICLE. Or maybe just "the ice" for short. That's what a Minnetonka PR firm is hoping to name the planned light rail line linking St. Paul and Minneapolis via University Avenue. Currently, its less-than-inspiring name is Central Corridor Light Rail Transit. Planners have said they plan on coming up with a better name, when they get around to it. Construction on the $909.1 million line is scheduled to start in 2010, with trains running in 2014, if the plan gets federal approval and funding. "Now is the time to embrace the ICICLE," said Michael Maher, president of The Media Ink, this afternoon. He said the name reflects pride Minnesotans have in our climate รข€" and the ability to moderate it while in transit. "Whether riding the ICICLE to the St. Paul Winter Carnival of Minnesota Wild game in warm comfort, or to the Minneapolis Aquatennial or a Twins game in cool comfort, the ICICLE will be the mode of transportation," Maher said in a written announcement. The small PR firm appears to be the first entity to claim copyright and trademark rights over a name for the train.
