Inver Grove Heights / Industrial park OK surprises residents
Inver Grove Heights reached an agreement Monday with a commercial real estate company that had threatened to sue after it was denied the right to build an industrial park. The city will now allow Bloomington-based United Properties to go forward with plans to build a 475,000-square-foot office and warehouse site. But residents continue to protest the development รข" and might file a lawsuit to stop it. They believe the project, west of Minnesota 55 and Barnes Avenue, will turn rural residential roads into a commercial route and bring increased traffic, noise and light pollution. Mayor George Tourville voted against United Properties' application in November but changed his mind after a series of closed-door meetings. He would not comment specifically about the negotiation process. "I know the neighborhood is not happy with the decision," Tourville said. "The job of the city is now to go forward and enact the items in the agreement."
