PFCs in drinking water subject of public meetings
Six meetings in Washington and Dakota counties in March will explain the impact of and response to perfluorochemicals manufactured by the 3M Corp. in drinking water. At the meetings, officials will explain revised standards for PFCs in drinking water, the results of new sampling of water from local wells, and a rating system for water treatment devices to remove PFCs. The meetings include an open house from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., a presentation from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and a question-and-answer period from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The meetings will be March 4 at All Saints Lutheran Church, 8100 Belden Blvd., Cottage Grove; March 5 at St. Paul Park City Hall, 600 Portland Ave.; March 10 at Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Road; March 12 at Oak-Land Junior High School, 820 Manning Avenue N., Lake Elmo; and March 13 at Oakdale City Hall, 1584 Hadley Avenue N. A meeting March 4 at Hastings City Hall, 101 Fourth Street E., will follow a different format: presentation from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a question-answer session.
