Forest Lake ice arena plan gets council's approval

Forest Lake's new hockey arena complex should open on schedule this fall, thanks to some help from the city. The City Council on Monday approved waiving some permit fees, leasing the land to the Forest Lake Area Athletic Association for a dollar a year for 35 years and giving the group an interest-free loan for sewer and water hookups. Larry Porter, , said ground should be broken by April 1 and skaters should be on the ice by Sept. 1.
