Benanav's big picture

"I look forward, not backwards," says the former St. Paul City Council member. He chose not to run after 10 years of service, but that doesn't mean he plans to fade away. He had been officially retired from the St. Paul City Council for just a day, but Jay Benanav said it already felt a bit weird not to have a seat at the meeting table on Wednesday. As the council prepared for a controversial zoning vote on the site of a proposed Trader Joe's, Benanav had an opinion but said it felt all right not have to vote on the matter.
