Slowing economy puts brakes on retail projects
A slowdown in retail leasing and development is in the works in the Twin Cities after a record level of construction only a couple of years ago, according to the January 2008 edition of United Properties' Outlook Market Report released this afternoon. Speculative development of retail space has slowed to a trickle, reflecting the continuing housing slowdown, the report said. Leasing activity has been light in smaller shop space and speculative projects.
