New housing in Woodbury projected to keep booming

Woodbury will rank first among Washington County cities in the demand for new housing over the coming decade, according to a study presented to county commissioners Tuesday. Woodbury and nearby Oakdale already have 71 percent of the county's rental units, in big part because of many more jobs in those cities. While Woodbury is expected to have a quarter of all the county's housing by 2020, Cottage Grove and surrounding area will have nearly 22 percent, and Hugo will have more than 18 percent, the study by Maxfield Research Inc. found. Meanwhile, strong demand for more senior housing will become evident in Cottage Grove, Woodbury, Forest Lake, Oakdale and Stillwater, in that order, the study said.
